My input fader is fucked on my Vestax and it seems it's not possible to replace it Sad (pcv 275)

I've been looking at this mixer, does anyone have any experience with American Audio?

Any advice as to whether they're any good or not is much appreciated...

That sucks, how old is it.  Spares are meant to be stocked for 10 years.

The possible new one looks good, but i don't know i have no hands on experience with real mixers haha

First I have to ask, do you really need all those features?

Every feature you add either adds cost or decreases the quality of the components. Do you need/use 3 mic's simultaneously? Do you need four channels? IE will you be mixing four records/cd's at once?

I'd decide what it is you need and then decide on what you want to spend and look in that area. TBH I've never heard of American Audio, so I'm not sure of the quality.

I bought it off, ebay but it looked like it'd only been used for about 2 mixes lol.

That's what I was thinking rwa..... the debate is whether to go for more features (and probably slightly less build quality), or exactly what I need with a nice sterdy mixer.....

But then it'd be nice to have shit I don't need because I'll feel pressured to evolve my mixing.

tbh, I really need to focus my money on buying vinyls so for the moment the mixer is off Sad

Haven't been here too much to reply to this sorry mate but IMO go for a mixer with 3 line/phono channels, a good set of faders and the usual EQ's. That way you can always use three decks in the future if you want to. Forget effects because you can always buy dedicated effects units at a later stage if you so wish to use them and they'll probably be better quality, take a look (or rather DROOL) over the Korg Kaos Pads, now they are some fucking badboys.

I'm not too much into effects when DJing. Besides that, it is very easy to overuse them. IMHO that will detract from helping to progress your skills rather than add to it. TBH, I've only seen one DJ that has ever impressed me with using effects such as delay, reverb etc when mixing and that was Derek Dahlarge using a Pioneer 600 in the small room @ Manumission a lifetime ago. The guy was playing New Order's Blue Monday and kept it going for about 15 minutes and completely mashed that shit up.

As it happens, the next day there was a radio 1 gig at Mambo's and I happened to be patroling the beach making sure everyone had what they needed to enjoy the party (obviously top quality and the best price  Wink ). I bumped into him at the bar and chucked him a pill and said thanks for the top quality entertainment. AAhhh, the good ole dayz.

I'ver used it mate... My advice is this avoid like plague, the faders are unresponsive the sound is shit and the FX are worthless...

are you going for no frills or all out? (oR a happy medium?)
